Royal Show 2007

July 3rd, 2007 12:01

The Royal Show is on at the moment, so my lunches this week will consist mostly of interesting pies and other assorted produce from around the country. Water buffalo burgers are very nice. Stilton ice cream is not so nice. But still very interesting.

One of the many, many stalls belonged to these guys:

I think they have a nautical division too.

It’s raining a lot. It rained so much yesterday, that me and about a hundred other drivers had their cars stranded in mud. I even saw a couple of 4×4s get stuck, it was that bad. It was an hour and a half before a tractor could tow my car back to tarmac. Mmm… tarmac…

I’ve just found out that the show has actually been cancelled tomorrow. I can’t even begin to imagine how you’d cancel an event like this. It must be a nightmare for the organisers. Oh well, hopefully I’ll be able to pick up some bargains today. I could have sworn there was a place that sold llama burgers here last year, I wonder if they are around?

In web-related news, I’ve done something really weird to my site. Ever eince implementing that theme switcher, my code generates a double-render error whenever you try to post a comment. I can’t see for the life of me what’s causing it, but I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple. It was always missing semicolons back when this place was written in Perl, but Ruby doesn’t use those, so I can’t blame them this time!

  • Fixed the comments. I knew it was something simple! I made a slight change to the user model and hadn't updated the checks in the comment controller. Obvious, really.
