File Swarming
Ah, free hard disk space. Now I don’t mean free as in beer, or free as in Free, but free as in available. I’ve finally moved a bunch of stuff off Melchior onto Balthazar, which means I can fill it up again!
I’ve been playing around with peer-to-peer stuff for a while, I like to think of myself as a Napster veteran. Recently someone brought to my attention a neat little program called BitTorrent. It uses as novel method dubbed “file-swarming”. I won’t go into details of its function, they can be found on its website, but I will tell you it is cool. Anime distributors seem to have taken this method to their liking, perhaps because it is an effective method of sharing with nice bandwidth spreading. Quite a few of the larger fansub groups have their own .torrent file pages, but one place I’ve found keeps track of a whole load, and is updated frequently:
It aint half bad, and I’ve already managed to get a few files from there.
Work at the moment is going okay, my digger project is coming along nicely. It really does help to have a naming scheme for your objects, you know? I may show you some cool pictures soon if I can get it to show something pretty… Other projects need my attention too, but they aren’t anyway near as interesting. Oh, and for some reason I seem to have become a chick magnet:

Kudos to Matt for the arrangement, and to the Yellow Pages for the chicks. I think also Sluggy deserves a mention…
This is my bedroom door, by the way.
Hopefully I’ll get the snow pics up tonight, but don’t quote me on that. Quote me instead on “mini-lob”
