Foreheads
Well, it’s been a busy week and a bit. The end of term has come and gone, alleviating me of the pressures of coursework. However, Chirstmas is nigh and I have been bestowed a whole new range of pressures, and a fresh new sleeping pattern. The last weekend at my Univesity abode was great, it was nice to have so many people in the house in a festive spirit. Jemma (my guest) and I met in London on Friday the 13th, where we spent the day wandering around. I haven’t been to London without a proper agenda before, it was an experience to get lost looking for interesting places to shop. Despite the abundance of shops, I came away empty-handed, which was very depressing.
Perhaps I’ll write about London in greater detail later, I have difficulty remembering where we went exactly. I wish I had a digital camera, film development is too expensive. There were many occasions where I wish I could capture the moment. Jemma had a good shop; she mangaed to pick up a few things, my favourite being a strangely furry hat which she insists is at least sixty years old.
The next day we tried Reading town centre, with the same amount of success on my part. At this point I was beginning to believe I would not get anything in time for Christmas, which stressed me out a bit. It was also a great shame that Jemma was quite ill, struck down with a nasty cold/cough combination. It was very upsetting that she decided she was too ill to stay for the meal we had been planning for Sunday.
The meal itself was a great success, plenty of food to go around, the the turkey which had looked a bit weird before we cooked it came out tasty (and as an added bonus, we are all still alive). Afterwards we engaged in a game of Kill Doctor Lucky, a brilliant invention from the people at Cheapass Games. After Fran’s victory, we played a couple of rounds of that game where you stick names on people’s foreheads and they have to guess who they are. After merriment had ensued, we all retired for the evening, leaving most of the washing and tidying for the morning.
So now I am back in Coventry, trying to settle in again. Yesterday I went to Stratford-Upon-Avon, and learned a valuable lesson; never take the train to Stratford. Take the bus. No, really. When I did get there, I did enjoy myself thourghly however, and completed most of my shopping, so it was a very worthwhile trip. Today has been quite wearing, Coventry is seeing it’s busy period too. Hopefully I will be at the stage where I can sleep for the rest of the holiday, outside is cold and full of people.
Get some rest everyone, you’ve done a good job.
