Presentee

December 10th, 2002 12:00

Well, today is the 10th, so that means Thinkblank’s Secret Santa has begun! I received my conformation e-mail today, with the name and website my victim “presentee”. I’ve been over and checked their homepage out, they look pretty normal. Can’t say I agree with their taste in music, however. But they seem nice so I’ll get them something gift-wrapped from their Amazon wishlist.

The scary thing however, is that hopefully someone received my name, and was pointed in this direction to find out about me. Which means they could be reading this page right now! I fell kinda embarressed, I guess I should read through everything and spellcheck it all. If you are reading this, Secret-Santa-Type person: Have a Merry Christmas! Erm, I hope you can get a good idea about me from my writings. I should really add an “About Me” section to this site, I don’t think I’ve writen much about my identity really…

I’ll tell you one thing, I have recently increased my interest in the Japanese langauge. I have a couple of books already, and having been casually browsing them for several months now. When I was doing my manga drawings last week, I spent a while doing some research on Kanji. Well, I was only looking for one in paricular (“ken” meaning “sword” [among other things]), but I came across an extract from a book which was about kanji and their origins. It would take a kanji character, then describe its construction, and say a few things about the history of Japan concerning the topic of the character. It was quite interesting. Anything Samurai related would go down a hit, I’ve been interested in Japan’s Shogun days for a long time…

“The Christmas Mood” has hit our household, we had a “House Meeting” last night to talk about stuff. It was the first time we’ve ever done something so organised, and while there was a long and varied spectrum of seriousness between us, we managed to agree on a few things. We started off with the manditory questions surrounding the state of the house, and who was going to be responsible for keeping things clean. We all fell silent, dreading to mention the word “rota”. We managed to divide the work in a less “chorish” way, we said each of us would be in charge of a room outside our own, and take care of it. Seems fair. After further talking about bills, etc, we thought up the idea that we should have a Christams Meal together on the last weekend after term breaks up.

There seemed to be a mixture in the amount of enthusiasm, but it was a good way to find out what your housemates liked and disliked about the season. Eventually we decided that a whole turkey should be invested in, as there will be two people extra joining in (Daf and I are having guests), bringing the total to a wholesome eight. There will be potatos and the usual vegtables, possibly some cranberry sauce, and maybe a spot of wine should we have any cash left over. All that’s left is to decide who is going to carry it all back from the supermarket!

Well, I had best better get on with my personal info section, or possibly my Secret Santa won’t know who I am! I wonder what they are like? Male or female? Younger or older? Crazy or not-so-crazy? Well, I’m sure they are a very nice person none the less! I hope you can get a good picture of who I am, I do try to be honest here.

Lobster wishes you a revengeful Christmans!
